He can support university leadership with a comprehensive array of research-related services and expertise. This includes developing research strategies and delivery plans through sensitive engagement with academics and administrative staff, underpinned by robust data analysis. He excels in facilitating domestic and international partnerships via scoping analysis, workshop facilitation, and high-level negotiation planning. Additionally, he is skilled in engaging with government entities and understanding their priorities, particularly in research security and risk management. Furthermore, he is adept at implementing research data management systems, policies, and processes, ensuring efficient and effective research operations.
During a decade at ESRC, RCUK, and UKRI, Glen led various initiatives including high-level partnerships between academia and government, the Joint Programming Initiative for Urban Europe and the Newton Fund. For 6 years he was part of the British Embassy network in China, working as Deputy Director for UKRI China. He then spent 2 more years in China as Director of Research at the University of Nottingham Ningbo before returning to the UK.
A first generation university graduate, Glen has a BA in Social Policy, and in 2012 completed a PhD in geography researching the spatiality of inequality and privilege.
