Jules brings a strategic mindset and creative boldness to any project, especially when change is sensitive and stakeholders are diverse. She finds the through-line in complex evidence, then co-creates with leaders and stakeholders to build a narrative architecture that feels authentic to the institution.

Jules designs engagement that gets noticed and helps people contribute meaningfully – whether creating a new strategy, or ensuring students’ concerns are heard. She translates findings into practical toolkits: from messaging and tone to new multimedia formats and channel plans. Recent work includes award-winning leadership communications and campaigns that have improved NSS student voice outcomes.

Most recently, Jules worked in the President and Vice-Chancellor’s Office at The University of Manchester, leading a complete reset of leadership communications. When President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Duncan Ivison joined, she designed and led his communications programme, setting the narrative and formats, as well as building the infrastructure behind it.

Jules also led the communications and engagement for the Manchester 2035 strategy, including large-scale engagement, co-authoring the strategy itself and overseeing multi-format launch content. She’s known for building new roles and programmes from scratch and brings PhD-level research skills, synthesis and facilitation to complex briefs.

How has Jules recently helped institutions?

  • The University of Manchester Manchester 2035 strategy: Designed engagement, co-authored the strategy and led on launch narrative and assets – translating complex institutional priorities into a story staff and students could recognise themselves in, with formats built for reach and reuse.
  • The University of Manchester Oxford Road Chats (500k+ views): Created a student-facing leadership comms series that made senior leadership feel accessible and real – building a repeatable format, tone, and production workflow that delivered scale without losing authenticity and has been credited with improving NSS student voice outcomes.
  • The University of Manchester Leadership communications reset for a new President and Vice-Chancellor: Designed and delivered the VCs introduction to the organisation and rebuilt leadership communications systems – from narrative, rhythm and channels to the content pipeline – shifting leadership communications towards more open, consistent, video-led messaging.
  • The University of Manchester – Flexible Learning Strategy communications and engagement (2021–2023): Owned comms end-to-end for a flagship change programme, from discovery through launch and post-implementation engagement – building trust during change and keeping momentum after rollout.

Jules is bilingual in English and German and did her PhD on the transnational flow of scientific and social knowledge – basically, how ideas spread and reshape culture. That’s why she’s so interested in narrative and behaviour change. She’s a devoted rescue-cat person and is currently planning her next adventure (relocating to South East Asia!).
