Claire joined SUMS in 2016 as an Associate Consultant. Her main specialism is in the support of members’ development of portfolio and project offices. This is delivered through mentoring and by acting as a critical friend, drawing on her experience setting up and running the project office at the University of Bristol. Claire developed SUMS’ Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) compliance framework approach and undertakes reviews through comprehensive workshops. She also undertakes post-implementation reviews for SUMS clients to assess the effectiveness of projects against original objectives.
Her other projects have included developing and delivering training for senior board members and sponsors of projects and portfolios, and reviewing the structure and organisation of IT services to recommend changes for delivering sustainable, cost-effective IT.
A graduate of the University of Bristol, Claire returned to work at Bristol, setting up and developing the Strategic Projects Office. She has previous experience in the private sector with regional and global accountancy firms. As a management consultant with PwC and predecessor accountancy firm Deloitte Haskins & Sells, she led IT projects for national and international organisations, moving on to be Director of IT Services at a South West regional accountancy practice where she managed the growth of IT Services for small and medium-sized businesses.
In any spare time, Claire works as a volunteer in local libraries and is also a magistrate in the Bristol Magistrates Court. As part of her magistrates work she supports Magistrates in the Community activities, promoting the work of Magistrates. She is also part of the Drug Rehabilitation Review panel.
On top of this, Claire has been awarded with the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Finance, ISEB Diploma in Business Analytics and is a certified Prince 2 Practitioner.
