Over the course of his 30+ year career, Chris has held a variety of senior roles across sectors including higher education, local government and the NHS.

Working as part of the senior leadership team, he has operated at HR Director and deputy HR Director level for several Midlands based NHS Foundation Trusts, and more recently as Deputy HR Director, and now freelance HR Consultant for Birmingham City University, as well as other local authority clients.

Chris is an experienced HR practitioner having delivered a variety of assignments in the higher education and health sectors that span performance management and improvement, workforce change, restructures, leadership development and coaching, TUPE transfers, outsourcing and reward management.

He also boasts a track record of success in delivering transformation projects on time and to budget, whilst maintaining stakeholder engagement, and confidence. These include the successful redesign of payroll-related HR processes following a strategic review of the external payroll provider, the systematic review of HR policies, the outsourcing of health and well-being service provision, and developing and implementing a hybrid / agile working strategy.

Based in South Wales, Chris is an accredited HR professional and a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD). He describes himself as an advocate of HR best practice, and is passionate about developing a positive, inclusive and values based employment culture.

Motivated by sharing his expertise and experience to support the development of new entrants to the HR profession, he has recently been appointed as a student mentor. He has also been an active member of the Birmingham branch committee of the CIPD.

Away from work, he is a keen cycler and supports his wife with the management of their equestrian small holding, although admits to not being very good with the horses.
