I support universities to interpret and respond to regulatory requirements, translating policy into practical institutional action. I have extensive experience leading large-scale change programmes, particularly in curriculum and assessment reform, and expertise in student survey design, implementation and evaluation.
Ben is currently Head of the Education Office at a large Russell Group university, providing senior policy advice and leading strategic institutional projects. Previously, he worked in higher education consultancy and held a range of student engagement and policy roles at the Office for Students. He has also served on the boards of several students’ unions and higher education charities.
How has Ben recently supported universities?
- Led a university-wide curriculum transformation programme at Queen Mary University of London, developing and implementing a consistent curriculum and assessment framework through complex academic governance structures.
- Coordinated the national review of the National Student Survey (NSS), including question development, stakeholder engagement and large-scale user testing.
- Developed a student systems maturity assessment and improvement recommendations for the University of Nottingham.
- Led the strategic development and delivery of the Office for Students’ student engagement strategy, covering insight generation, policy development and governance.
Outside of work, Ben is a keen runner and has completed two marathons, one in Manchester, the other in Rome, and has recently taken up gardening.
