Andrew is an experienced finance and transformation professional with over 20 years’ experience across higher education and the charity sector. He has held senior roles including Deputy Finance Director and International Finance Director within universities, as well as Director of Finance for large charities, giving him broad experience of complex organisations, international operations and strategic financial management. For the past four years, Andrew has worked as a consultant, supporting organisations through change, improvement and transformation.
He works effectively both as part of multi-disciplinary teams and independently, bringing a collaborative, pragmatic approach to solving complex challenges. His areas of expertise include developing and improving dashboards and reporting templates, enhancing board reporting and institutional financial literacy, and supporting effective budget strategy and transformation. Andrew is particularly focused on turning financial information into clear, useful insight that enables boards, senior leaders and wider teams to understand performance, assess options and make well-informed strategic decisions.
How has Andrew recently supported universities?
- Financial elements of major restructure project at University of Kent in leadup to agreed merger.
- Registration process for three small institutions now part of OfS (including, but not limited to, financial sustainability review and evidencing)
- Development of new TNE structure including criteria for assessing suitability of specific consulting opportunities, and templates for work delivery for a large London university.
- Financial leadership, mentoring and oversight for Open University Student’s Union.
Outside of work Andrew enjoys sports and can often be found trying to identify the winner of the next horse race. In addition to sports, Andrew enjoys spending time with his family and cooking.
