Andrea brings extensive experience and credibility as a higher education leader to SUMS members and clients. She has built a strong reputation across the sector over a 30-year career, working across eight diverse universities, including Russell Group institutions, post-92 universities, and smaller specialist providers in England and Wales. With over a decade of experience operating at executive level, she combines strategic insight with practical leadership across complex institutional environments.
Since 2023, Andrea has worked in the interim executive space, undertaking senior roles including Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Chief Operating Officer, and University Registrar & Secretary. Prior to this, she served as an Academic Registrar and progressed through increasingly senior roles across a wide range of university functions, including medical schools, quality assurance (covering UK and international collaborative provision), planning, student services, faculties, and registry. She is a Fellow of the Association of University Administrators (FAUA), awarded in 2012 in recognition of her contribution to the sector, and in 2015 her team was highly commended at the Times Higher Education Leadership & Management Awards for Outstanding Administrative Services Team. Andrea has also shared her insights on leadership and career development through the ‘HE Job Shadowing’ podcast.
Outside of work, Andrea enjoys running and has run 10k every day for the last three years.
