Alison can support SUMS members by working with them on transformation projects in professional services departments. She can also review policies and regulations to ensure efficacy, transparency and compliance. Alison has particular skills in complaint management and resolution.
Alison is also an experienced, qualified Executive Coach. She supports managers in higher education through leadership development and coaching, helping them lead effectively in an environment of financial constraint, heightened regulation, increasing organisational pressure and complexity.
Alison’s most recent permanent position was Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor (Students) at Aston University. Prior to this Alison has worked at De Montfort University, University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University.

- Mapped and reviewed student journey and created new directorate to align services with the student experience – University of Wolverhampton
- Reviewed and restructure of Academic Registry – Aberystwyth University
- Reviewed and restructure of Academic Registry and acted as interim Academic Registrar – Health Sciences University
Outside of work, Alison writes an award winning gardening blog. When not working she is usually to be found in the garden. When the weather does not allow for this Alison is a keen sewist and makes her own clothes.
