University students and staff increasingly expect to see what actions their institutions are taking to become sustainable organisations and contribute towards building a sustainable future. The expectations of many partners, funders and wider society are heading in the same direction.
SUMS Group is committed to supporting the higher education sector on this journey and has entered a strategic partnership with EAUC, the environmental and sustainability champions in the education sector, with the shared goal creating a sector with sustainability at its heart.
“This exciting new partnership is designed to address a pressing need for colleges and universities – and one that will make a lasting impact. We all care about the sustainability of our planet. Your communities of students and staff will be passionate about it. And you will almost certainly already be committed to moving to Net Zero Carbon or beyond. But mobilising this passion, changing your operations to make a practical difference requires transformation. To help drive that, SUMS’ experience in helping higher education institutions to solve complex problems combines with EAUC’s expertise across all aspects of sustainability to provide you with the strategic and operational support your organisation needs to succeed.” Joel Arber, SUMS Group Managing Director
SUMS’ partnership with EAUC will offer consulting services in sustainability, delivered by recognised sector experts and drawing on best practice in the education sector and other sectors.
Due for launch in the coming months, the joint SUMS-EAUC consulting service will initially focus on net zero plans, but will be extended in time to cover all the key aspects of sustainability in the higher education and further education sectors. More information on this important new service will follow very soon.
“Bringing EAUC and SUMS together will achieve impact that we couldn’t otherwise have delivered. I can see this partnership delivering significant benefits as we seek to leverage the incredibly deep expertise of the university and college sectors to address the challenges and opportunities associated with sustainability and the Climate Crisis.” Professor John French, EAUC Deputy Chair of Trustees
As strategic partners with EAUC, SUPC and SUMS Consulting attended the EAUC Annual Conference earlier this month which was held at Loughborough University, where Rob Johnson, Head of SUPC Procurement Services, spoke on the challenge of improving sector reporting on scope 3 carbon emissions. There will be more to come on this from Rob very soon!
