The transition to Cloud announcement from Unit4 has sparked intense discussion amongst UK Universities. This shift underscores the evolution of the cloud from being merely a market disrupter to an essential IT strategy for universities.

Given the pace of change, it is imperative that UK Universities reflect on where they stand in their own cloud migration efforts and in relation to future strategies for the whole sector.

In light of this, SUMS is excited to host a virtual roundtable, bringing together professionals from across the sector to build a collective understanding of the risks, benefits and complexities of cloud migration. Our aim is to help attendees understand the landscape and debunk migration myths.

We will be joined by digital transformation and Cloud specialists from across the higher education sector. More information about The Cloud in HE speakers can be found here

This discussion is open to all professionals from higher education institutions. Through panel discussions and case study presentations, attendees will gain insights into:

  • Cloud Dynamics: an overview of current cloud technologies and strategies
  • Unit4 FAQs: Exploring potential implications of the transition led by our Unit4 partner, followed by an update from UCISA about how they are supporting the sector to respond to this challenge
  • Cloud Cost optimisation: techniques & strategies put in place by your peers when moving from a CapEx to an OpEx IT model
  • Skillsets for the Cloud Era: capabilities required to transition to cloud systems.
  • Complexities Unravelled: common complexities in cloud journeys within our sector, including experiences from SUMS members at various stages of the cloud journey.

Following registration, SUMS member organisations will also have the exclusive opportunity to join the UCISA members' meeting, unpacking the Unit4 decision and exploring its broader implications for our sector.
